A Man Called Ove

Home / Schedule-old / A Man Called Ove

Sweden 2016; PG-13; 116 min; Subtitles.

Scowling widower Ove (Rolf Lassgard) is the self-appointed supervisor of his housing development, whose rigid domain is threatened by the arrival next door of Parvaneh (Bahar Pars), a vivacious young Iranian immigrant and her family. Ove’s life story, told in flashbacks, provides both poignant explication and solid substance for this very entertaining comedy drama of neighborly friendship and re-engagement with the world.

Academy Award nominee, Best Foreign Language Film of 2016.

Direction and screenplay: Hannes Holm
